Indeed

Indeed is a rather interesting word. We're accustomed to using it as a substitute for certainly. Indeed, it works in such a context, but what does it actually mean? "in" meaning a part of or contained in. "deed" meaning an intentional act, especially a very bad or very good one. So, a part of an intentionally bad (or good) act. Doesn't make much sense to me.
